Under President Monaco’s leadership, Tufts has identified strategic directions and key initiatives that will support and enhance the university’s longstanding commitments to innovation, collaboration, civic life and global perspectives. The T10 Strategic Plan, approved by the Board of Trustees in November 2013, provides a framework to realize the shared vision of Tufts as an innovative university over the next decade.
Launched in November 2017, Brighter World: The Campaign for Tufts is a $1.5-billion comprehensive fundraising campaign that will strategically bolster the Tufts experience and strengthen the university’s international leadership in higher education. Drawn from institutional needs identified through T10 the university-wide strategic plan, gifts to the campaign will help Tufts achieve goals broadly defined by three over-arching priorities: Transformative Experiences, Research and Innovation and Global Impact.
President Monaco is deeply committed to the wellbeing of the campus community and currently chairs university-wide bodies dedicated to promoting student mental health and preventing sexual misconduct. Previously, he led councils or steering committees dedicated to supporting sustainability, advancing diversity and inclusion, and strengthening student life. Each of these efforts builds on a comprehensive assessment of how Tufts could best put its values and institutional commitments into practice.
In concert with President Monaco’s commitment to broaden access to a Tufts education and contain costs, the university has successfully implemented a series of major initiatives to use its administrative and financial resources more effectively—a project known as Tufts Effectiveness in Administrative Management (TEAM)—and continues to enhance administrative processes to support student and faculty needs.
