Dear members of the Tufts community,
I am happy to announce that the time has arrived to sign up to volunteer with Tufts at the 2023 Boston Marathon.
As in previous years, the Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.) has allotted Tufts an exclusive number of volunteer spots for Marathon Monday on April 17, 2023. Volunteering at the Marathon is a great opportunity to participate in this historic Boston tradition. Your service on race day provides all runners, including your fellow Jumbos, with the support they need to finish the 26.2-mile course. This year, our volunteers will once again dedicate their day to supporting activities at hydration stations by providing water and words of encouragement to runners at critical points throughout the race.
All volunteers receive a Boston Marathon volunteer jacket and commemorative pin. In addition, volunteers receive a Tufts hat so that they are easily identifiable to runners and spectators along the course. For those needing transportation, we will provide buses from the Medford/Somerville campus to the volunteer assignment locations.
From the earliest hours of the day to the last runner to cross the finish line, volunteers are crucial to the success of the Marathon. Each year, Tufts has only a limited number of volunteer spots on Marathon Monday; therefore, we ask that you only register to volunteer if you are certain that you can fully honor this commitment on Monday, April 17.
To indicate your interest in volunteering, please complete this volunteer interest form. Because Tufts’ volunteer spots are limited, you are strongly encouraged to fill out the volunteer interest form as soon as possible and no later than Monday, January 23. You will receive an email directly from the Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.) between February 1 – 10 if a volunteer spot is available for you. After February 10, you may direct questions to marathonvolunteer@tufts.edu.
Volunteering is a wonderful way to participate firsthand in the excitement and community of the Boston Marathon. As we approach Marathon Monday, all confirmed volunteers will receive an email from Tufts regarding transportation options to assigned locations and emails directly from the B.A.A. with specific details about their volunteer assignment.
