We are pleased to announce that Kyongbum Lee has been named dean ad interim of Tufts University School of Engineering and Karol Family Professor beginning August 24, 2021.
Kyongbum joined Tufts in 2002 as an assistant professor within the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering (ChBE). He was promoted to associate professor in 2008 and to full professor in 2014. For the past 11 years, he has served as chair of the ChBE department. His research interests include metabolic engineering, tissue engineering, and systems biology, particularly the study of cellular metabolism and its role in directing biological function. In 2015, Kyongbum was named a Fellow of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE) for his significant contributions at the interface of biochemical and biomedical engineering through integrated modeling and experimental studies on cellular metabolism. Kyongbum earned his B.S. degree from Stanford University in 1995 and his Ph.D. from MIT in 2002.
As we announced previously, Jianmin Qu will be stepping down as dean of the School of Engineering at the end of this month to become provost and vice president for academic affairs at Stevens Institute of Technology. Please join us in thanking Jianmin once more for his service to Tufts and in welcoming Kyongbum to his new role.
