This past year has been unlike any other in our lifetime. We can’t think of a better way to mark its close than to pause in celebration of the staff and faculty members who helped us through it and who continue to make Tufts the place we all love.
We are pleased to announce that this year marks the fourteenth year of the Tufts Distinction Awards program. This valued Tufts tradition celebrates outstanding faculty and staff accomplishments in areas outside of teaching and research.
And this year, we have made it easier than ever to nominate colleagues who consistently go above and beyond to serve the Tufts community.
Each of us works with individuals and teams who personify leadership, integrity, collaboration, and innovation, and who deeply embrace diverse perspectives and meaningful inclusion. We invite you to nominate these colleagues for a Tufts Distinction Award between now and July 30.
By briefly answering just two simple questions, you can make sure that these extraordinary individuals and teams realize just how much their contributions matter.
We will also present the David J. Kahle Award as part of the Distinction Awards, in honor of our former Vice President of Tufts Technology Services and Chief Information Officer. Over his 19 years of service at Tufts, David was known as a visionary thinker and innovator who always focused on creating value for everyone his work served. This award recognizes staff or faculty who have successfully led an initiative to innovate and improve university service or user experiences.
As we open nominations today for the fourteenth year of this prestigious program, we look forward to coming together with all of you and celebrating the 2021 and 2020 nominees and recipients in November. We look forward to hearing the cowbells from Cummings, to seeing the Fletcher flags waving once more, to feeling moved as community members chant a beloved colleague’s name, and to rising up with standing ovations for the people who make us proud of this university and the work we do together.
