We are delighted to announce the appointment of Michael Rodman as the Vice President for Communications and Marketing. Mike joins us from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, where he has served since January 2005—first as the Director of Communications and, since 2013, as the Assistant Dean for Communications and Marketing.
Under his leadership, the School has been recognized as having the most influential social media presence of any education school in the nation, its podcast series is listed in the top education podcasts, and the school’s magazine has been honored with many CASE awards, including a gold medal this spring. He also led the development of the Usable Knowledge website, which translates academic research for educators and parents, and built a centralized marketing team that moved the school from a print-only approach to a coordinated and comprehensive digital-first strategy.
Prior to his tenure at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, Mike was the Assistant Director of Communications at Harvard Law School, where he directed the press operations of that high-profile academic institution. He began his career in Washington, D.C., politics, where he worked for Congressman Steny Hoyer in the Committee on House Administration as a Communications Specialist and was a communications intern in the Office of the Vice President in the White House.
Mike received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Washington University in St. Louis and a Master’s in Public Policy from the Harvard Kennedy School.
Mike will be starting at Tufts on August 27. Please join us in welcoming him to the University Relations team.
