I am pleased to announce that Dr. Joyce Knoll has agreed to serve as dean ad interim of Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine.
Dr. Knoll came to Tufts in 1990 and is known for her many contributions as section head of clinical pathology, founder of the current clinical pathology laboratory, master teacher and, since 2016, chair of the Department of Biomedical Sciences.
Dr. Knoll is committed to student learning and has been recognized for teaching excellence and her work in curriculum review and renewal. Dr. Knoll is a caring, thoughtful educator and colleague and was noted for her achievements by induction into the Tufts Alumni Hall of Fame in 2014. She was the recipient of one of the first Cummings School Exceptional Service Awards in 2009. Dr. Knoll currently co-chairs the Cummings 2020 Strategic Plan Implementation Committee and is the Cummings School representative to the board of the Center for Enhancement of Learning and Teaching at Tufts.
Please join me in thanking Dr. Knoll for generously agreeing to serve. She looks forward to working with the Tufts community to sustain and advance Cummings School.
As Dean Kochevar has indicated that she will not be returning to Cummings School after her service as provost ad interim, the search for a permanent dean of the veterinary school will be launched in June 2018.
