Earlier today, Harvard University announced the appointment of Tufts University President Emeritus Larry Bacow as its 29th president. Harvard has made a truly outstanding choice.
Larry served with great distinction as 12th President of Tufts from 2001 to 2011. He exhibited superb leadership while at Tufts, and his commitment to academic excellence, strength of principle, and vision will lead Harvard University in its next era of accomplishment. Larry will also be a forceful and effective advocate for the importance of higher education and research for our nation and the world.
I know that all of you join me in congratulating Larry on this appointment. We look forward to seeing him put into action at Harvard the talents and insights that made him such a respected and effective President of Tufts during his tenure here, and I look forward to working with him as a Presidential colleague.
