Tufts University has honored some of our most inspiring students with the Presidential Award for Civic Life for over seventeen years. These prestigious awards recognize students from across the University for outstanding achievement in community service and civic leadership during their time at Tufts. We need your help to identify exceptional nominees from across all our undergraduate majors and all our graduate and professional schools.
I encourage you to be part of this important tradition by nominating students for a 2018 Presidential Award. Please make your nominations online through Tisch College’s website at https://tischcollege.tufts.edu/2018-presidential-awards-civic-life. All nominations must be submitted by Friday, February 23, 2018. Award recipients will be honored at a special ceremony, among their families, friends and nominators, on April 26, 2018 at 8:30 a.m. in the Coolidge Room of Ballou Hall.
Please keep in mind Tufts’ broad definition of civic leadership as you consider possible nominees, and note that awards should recognize the full range of service activities in which our students participate. Activities can include volunteer service in established programs, informal kinds of service, new and innovative student initiatives, and participation in community activities and governance.
Education for active citizenship is a core value of Tufts, and instilling the importance of this ethos in our students is a vital charge. The Presidential Awards honor our commitment to civic engagement by celebrating the diverse meanings of citizenship and public service that Tufts seeks to support.
Thank you for being part of this important Tufts tradition.
