We are pleased to share with you the full draft of the Report of the Council on Diversity. This report reflects a year and a half of intensive work by the members of the Council and its working groups—a diverse group of students, faculty, staff, and alumni with strong commitment to and expertise in these issues. In order to develop its recommendations, the Council has consulted broadly and deeply in order to understand the true current state of diversity at Tufts. The Council will release its final, formal report to the community later in the semester.
The Council’s work has already had a significant impact on the university’s strategic planning process. The draft strategic plan released earlier this month identifies implementing the recommendations of the Council on Diversity as one of the three key university initiatives associated with the strategic theme of “Recognizing Commonalities ~ Understanding, Engaging, and Celebrating Differences.”
The release of this full draft to the community provides an opportunity for faculty, staff, and students to begin discussion of the Council’s recommendations and how they can best be prioritized and implemented at a university level and within our schools and administrative divisions.
Advancing our shared goals will depend on the sustained involvement of contributors across our campuses. We look forward to your active engagement as we work together to make Tufts an even more diverse and inclusive university community.
