Dear Members of the Tufts Community,
As a university, we have a longstanding commitment to active citizenship and political participation. This year, Tisch College is making special efforts to help all eligible members of the university community cast their ballots in primaries and general elections, whether they are registered in Massachusetts or other states.
“Super Tuesday” Primaries: The next major milestone in this year’s electoral process will take place next Tuesday, March 1, when more than a dozen states including Massachusetts will hold primaries or caucuses. I hope that all of you who are eligible will take advantage of this important opportunity to cast your ballots. If you are registered in Massachusetts, the Tisch College website provides information at http://activecitizen.tufts.edu/voting-information-for-super-tuesday-march-1-2016/ on how the primary works, where to vote, non-partisan options for transportation to the polls, identification requirements, and absentee ballots.
Registration: Registration for the Massachusetts primaries next Tuesday has already closed. If you are not yet registered in Massachusetts or elsewhere, I encourage you to go ahead and register now to be sure of the opportunity to vote in November’s general election. We have sought to make this easy through a partnership with the non-partisan organization TurboVote, which will help you register in either Massachusetts or, if you prefer, your home state. You may also use TurboVote to update your voter registration information if, for example, you move to a new campus residence or off-campus address. And TurboVote can send you text alerts with important voting reminders. You can get started at: http://tufts.turbovote.org.
I encourage all of you who are eligible to exercise the right to vote, which is one of the fundamental opportunities and responsibilities of active citizenship.
