Tufts Medical CenterMarch 4, 2008 Dear Faculty and Staff Colleagues: I am pleased to share with you the news that Tufts-New England Medical Center is now Tufts Medical Center. The Medical Center’s new name reflects more clearly the exceptional partnership it shares with Tufts University and especially with our distinguished School of Medicine. We have a long history of collaboration. Together, we form one of the leading academic medical centers in one of the world’s great centers of medicine. We share the goal of advancing health care and medical research, and thousands of Tufts medical students have gained superb clinical skills as a result of their training at the Medical Center. In today’s constantly changing environment for health care, this relationship is a source of strength and excellence for both institutions. You will soon see significant changes across the Boston campus as we implement a new campus identity initiative. This project will help strengthen the sense of community across Tufts’ four downtown Schools and the Jean Mayer USDA Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging. It will also extend awareness of the University’s partnership with the Medical Center and enhance the experience of patients and visitors. We at Tufts are justly proud of our long tradition of excellence in medicine and the health sciences. Our strong relationship with Tufts Medical Center is central to the vitality of that tradition. I hope you will join me in congratulating our colleagues at the Medical Center on this exciting news, and in supporting the continued health and growth of this unique partnership. Sincerely, Lawrence S. Bacow |
