Hancock AnnouncementTo: Members of the Tufts Community I am pleased to tell you about an exciting new development for Tufts and the Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy. John Hancock Financial Services has agreed to sponsor a long term partnership with us that will provide significant support to the Friedman School and in particular, the Center for Physical Fitness and Nutrition. Associate Professor Miriam Nelson, director of the soon to be named John Hancock Center for Physical Fitness and Nutrition, and author of the best-selling "Strong Women" series of books, will continue to direct research, teaching and dissemination activities that focus on the relationship between weight training, diet, physical activity and nutrition. As you know, John Hancock is also the principal corporate sponsor of the Boston Marathon. Through this new agreement, the Friedman School and our Athletic Department will provide nutrition and fitness counseling for the marathon and will produce a special issue of the Health and Nutrition Letter for all marathon participants. Our partnership with John Hancock is a wonderful opportunity to demonstrate Tufts' commitment to health for life. In the next couple of months, we will have more information about the naming of the John Hancock Center at Tufts. Best wishes for an enjoyable summer. |
